Edward Nitkewicz

Edward Nitkewicz, senior counsel at The Sanders Firm, is proud to be an honoree at the Michael W. McCarthy Foundation’s 2015 Annual Golf Outing Event. This year’s event benefits Life’s WORC and The Family Center for Autism, which provides crucial services and resources for families affected by autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and other developmental disabilities.

On Monday, October 5th, join Mr. Nitkewicz and the other honorees for an exciting excursion to Plandome Country Club in Manhasset, NY. Enjoy a full brunch upon your arrival before teeing off on Plandome’s golf course, which is renowned for its majestic, sweeping views.

Not a golfer? You can still join in the charitable efforts of the Michael W. McCarthy Foundation by attending dinner or the cocktail hour, or by sending a tax deductible “There in Thought” donation.

Introducing the 2015 honorees

Edward Nitkewicz of The Sanders Firm has long been known in the community for his work as a legal advocate for families with children with special needs. He has served with distinction as an education law attorney and as a Parent Advocate in CPSE and CSE meetings, as well as special education litigation and impartial hearings.

Mr. Nitkewicz has also served as a guest lecturer on special education topics for organizations such as the Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism Association (AHA), The Cody Center for Autism, the Long Island Autism Fair, and various New York school districts – to name just a few of his efforts in supporting the families with special needs community. As a notable autism and anti-bullying advocate, Mr. Nitkewicz is particularly thrilled to be an honoree at an event that supports The Family Center for Autism.

Tina Moreno and the Schott family are the other special honorees at the 2015 Annual Golf Outing Event. Members of the Schott family are the founders of The Family Center for Autism. Tina Moreno is the Director of Community Relations at Life’s WORC Family Center for Autism. Affectionately known as “Aunt Tina,” she serves as a special needs family mentor and has been a tireless autism and anti-bullying advocate.

The Family Center for Autism

Life’s WORC is a private, 501(c) (3) organization that uses a unique model to support special needs families. At their Family Center for Autism, Long Island and Queens families can receive a lifetime of family centric support services. The charity provides supportive homes for more than 221 individuals and comprehensive services to more than 1,200 individuals and families. Their many contributions to the special needs community include home supports, behavioral interventions, social recreation programs, skills development initiatives, and vocational training opportunities.

Additionally, individuals with autism who need Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions can take advantage of the collaborative school linkage programs through the Family Center for Autism.

Above all, the Family Center for Autism provides hope to families who are struggling with the challenges associated with special needs. Mr. Nitkewicz and The Sanders Firm are proud to be associated with the Michael W. McCarthy Foundation and the important work it is doing to support the community. The Sanders Firm hopes to see you at Plandome Country Club in October!
