When I’m contacted by a client who’s had an accident and we set up their initial consultation, I always ask them to just bring me everything, for lack of a better word, everything they have.
If they’re in a car accident, tell me everything about it. If they have photographs, bring them. Bring their insurance paperwork. Bring everything about that car. If they were with other people in the car, bring me their names.
Bring me their telephone numbers. I’m not going to bother them. But I need to be able to speak to other people who can act as a witness or support how an accident occurred.
Tell me about your medical history. If you’re hurt now, I want to know what you were like before the accident. Tell me the name of your general practitioner you see. Tell me if you’ve had any prior accidents or prior injuries or prior health problems. I want to know everything day one so I can truly appreciate right away just what a serious effect that this accident has had on you and just how serious your injuries are.
So, for lack of a better word, what should somebody bring to me when they first meet with me and first consult with our firm? Bring everything. Everything going on in your life. I want to know everything about you. It’s the best way I can help a client.
