At The Sanders Law Firm, we understand that wrongful death cases require careful investigation, persistent preparation, and a commitment to protecting the rights of surviving family members. When critical evidence is difficult to obtain, building a strong claim can take time. In this case, our partner, Michael F. Villeck, helped secure a settlement for the family of a young man who was struck and killed by a motor vehicle while crossing the street.
Following the fatal accident, our client’s family faced a difficult legal process. Before the claim could move forward, the necessary estate matters had to be addressed. The investigation was further complicated by witnesses who were reluctant to cooperate or come forward with information about the collision.
Rather than allowing these challenges to prevent the case from progressing, we continued working to locate witnesses and gather the evidence needed to establish what happened.
Our efforts eventually led us to witnesses outside New York State. After extensive searching and persistent follow-up, we secured the cooperation of a witness who confirmed seeing the accident and described the vehicle as speeding and out of control at the time of the collision. This testimony provided important evidence supporting our client’s claim and helped address questions surrounding the driver’s responsibility for the fatal accident.
With the witness’s cooperation secured, we were able to move the case toward resolution. The insurance company ultimately agreed to tender the full available policy limits to the victim’s family. While no financial recovery can replace a loved one, this resolution provided the family with compensation and brought the legal claim to a conclusion after months of uncertainty.
