What Costs Will No-Fault Benefits Cover in New York?

Video Transcript

The no-fault benefits that a person is entitled to when they’re involved in a car accident will cover medical expenses, the cost of medical care, physical therapy, chiropractic treatment, specialists, surgery, hospitalization, and other medical treatment.

In addition, to a certain and restricted extent, it will help compensate somebody for their lost earnings or lost wages. There are monthly caps of up to $2,000 per month, or approximately 80% of their salary, but it’s something above and beyond the medical expenses.

So, there are lost wages, and other expenses can also be covered. Travel expenses to and from medical care and doctors, home health aides, home health care, and assistance with maintaining a home, if timely and properly submitted, should also be covered under the no-fault law in New York.
