Tylenol Lawsuits
Tylenol Lawsuits
**Please note we are no longer accepting Tylenol cases**
For those who have recently suffered serious consequences as a result of their use of a common, over-the-counter pain reliever, the prospect of filing a Tylenol lawsuit may begin to take on new, heightened relevance. What may have seemed like a perfectly safe way to alleviate fever or discomfort has resulted in life-changing injuries for far too many.
Victims of Tylenol-related liver damage can take heart, however, because help is available. At The Sanders Firm, our product liability attorneys possess decades of experience pursuing justice on behalf of those harmed by dangerous drugs and stand ready to fight for the compensation our clients deserve.
Current status of Tylenol liver damage litigation
The recent proliferation of Tylenol injury lawsuits being filed in federal courts across the country has prompted the creation of a Tylenol Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The consolidation of cases in this manner is intended to streamline the evidence gathering process, produce consistency in the litigation and avoid duplication during the discovery process. Well over 100 such cases have been filed thus far in the Tylenol MDL, and this number is expected to grow.
Since 1967, the Sanders Firm has represented injury victims in complicated matters involving dangerous drugs, achieving sizable settlements as well as significant jury verdicts. This foundation of success has allowed us to grow our practice, expand our litigation support network and provide an unrivaled level of personal service to each one of our clients. When it comes to protecting the rights of consumers to be safe from unreasonably defective and dangerous products, our team is second to none.

Help from experienced personal injury attorneys
If you or a loved one have suffered serious injuries as a result of Tylenol use, it is probably safe to say that your faith in drug makers and regulators has been shaken, perhaps irreparably. A medication you had every reason to believe was safe ended up causing severe damage from which you may never fully recover. The important thing to keep in mind, however, is that the law does provide you with an opportunity to secure compensation for that harm.
The Sanders Firm invites you to schedule a no-cost consultation and personal injury lawsuit evaluation by calling 1-800-FAIR-PLAY. Together we can discuss the facts of your Tylenol-related injury and explore your legal options in a compassionate, caring and honest environment.
Facts about Tylenol safety risks
For decades, Tylenol has been one of the most popular, widely available pain medications on the market. However, evidence has been mounting for years that it has the potential to cause significant increases in the risk of severe liver damage, and in some cases, liver failure.
The active ingredient in Tylenol is acetaminophen, an analgesic drug that has been linked to hundreds of deaths and thousands of hospitalizations every year.
Among the most serious effects of Tylenol use are things such as:
- Sudden liver failure
- Acute liver failure
- Hospitalization
- Liver transplant
- Death
Clearly, the harm Tylenol can potentially cause consumers is quite serious, and the risk of liver failure resulting from its use seems to be more pronounced in certain types of individuals. Those who take Tylenol in conjunction with other drugs that also contain acetaminophen are at much greater risk of liver failure than those taking Tylenol alone. However, many individuals are simply unaware that their prescription medications contain acetaminophen, and end up with a dangerous combination.
In recognition of this dilemma, the FDA issued a requirement in 2011 that every prescription drug containing acetaminophen be clearly labeled with a warning about liver damage risks. Further, a limit of 325 mg of acetaminophen was placed on doses of prescription drugs to provide additional protection against such damage. Johnson & Johnson also lowered its recommended daily maximum dosage amount in response to growing concerns about acetaminophen risks.
Additional concerns about Tylenol safety emerge
August 2013 was marked by the FDA’s issuance of a new warning about a possible link between Tylenol use and the potentially deadly skin disorders Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN). These conditions can produce severe burning, blisters, rashes, organ failure and blindness and require extensive treatment and hospitalization.
Despite the new measures and warnings, thousands of unsuspecting individuals have suffered and continue to suffer serious injuries as a result of Tylenol use.
Plaintiffs across the country are alleging that Johnson & Johnson negligently:
- Marketed a defective and unreasonably dangerous product
- Disregarded known liver failure risks
- Failed to provide sufficient consumer warning labels and instructions
- Failed to offer proper training to medical professionals about Tylenol use
- Failed to test the drug appropriately
- Downplayed risks and over-sold Tylenol’s safety
Because allegations of this type are complex in nature, it is important for injury victims to enlist the assistance of a knowledgeable team of Tylenol attorneys as soon as they suffer harm. The Sanders Firm has built their careers around a commitment to helping injured individuals receive fair compensation. Our ability to gather evidence, assemble critical expert testimony and present comprehensive arguments on behalf of our clients is second to none, and it is the reason for our reputation as one of the finest personal injury firms in the country.
Why file a Tylenol lawsuit?
In the immediate aftermath of a Tylenol-related injury, litigation may be the last thing on your mind. However, it is important to realize that there are definite time limits on your ability to pursue a product liability lawsuit for the damages you have sustained.
Time truly is of the essence if you are to achieve maximum compensation for things such as:
- Present and future medical bills
- Payment for pain and suffering
- Lost wages
- Cost of rehabilitation and physical therapy
- Funeral costs in cases of wrongful death
- Loss of familial relationship and support
- Loss of projected financial contribution
In addition to working to secure the level of financial recovery our clients will need to begin the healing process, we at the Sanders Firm also feel an obligation to help ensure that drug manufacturers who market and promote dangerous products without sufficient warnings are held to account. Together with our extensive network of medical experts, case investigators and legal support staff, our Tylenol lawyers will do everything in our power to do precisely that.
