Catastrophic injuries caused by someone else’s negligent or deliberately wrongful actions happen all too often, shattering lives and leaving victims searching for help and compensation.

Choosing the right law firm will make a world of difference to individuals and families struggling to overcome the enormous physical, financial and emotional hardships that often follow such injuries. For nearly 50 years, victims throughout New York State have found the help and support they need at The Sanders Law Firm.

Over 40 attorneys strong – with unsurpassed experience and expertise – The Sanders Law Firm is one of the largest, most aggressive and most successful personal injury firms in New York. In the past five years alone, it has procured over $200 million in jury awards and settlements on behalf of clients harmed by medical malpractice, nursing home abuse and negligence, construction site accidents, car accidents, dangerous drugs, slip-and-fall accidents, premises liability and other misfortunes.

Critical to the firm’s success, says E. David Woycik Jr., senior partner, are its unwavering commitment to represent every client as effectively as possible; exceptional work ethic; and almost obsessive attention to the smallest detail, even those that may not seem relevant at the time.

The Smallest Detail Can Make All the Difference

“Preparation. Preparation. Preparation. That’s our mantra,” Phyllis Sanders, senior partner, says. “It’s impossible to predict what direction a trial may take, or what tiny detail or obscure fact will mean the difference between winning and losing. So you’ve got to learn everything there is to know about the case and about everyone involved.”

In the case of the defendant bus driver, for example, the attorneys discovered the driver was receiving disability payments for sleep apnea stemming from posttraumatic stress – yet he was still driving a bus. It took some digging, but this revelation was critical to the outcome of the case. Ultimately, a Brooklyn jury awarded the firm’s client $1.225 million in damages.

Thanks to the firm’s perseverance in the case of the newborn who suffered brain damage, it was able to reach a $5 million settlement with the hospital for birth-related injuries.

According to partner Mark Bernstein, the client is an essential part of the legal team, and ongoing two-way communication is crucial to a successful outcome. “We listen closely to everything our clients tell us, ask them lots of questions to ensure we understand their cases inside and out,” he says.

“It’s just as important to make sure the client really understands what their case is about,” adds Robert Jackson, senior associate. “So we take the time to sit down with them and explain our perception as to what happened, who’s at fault, what to expect as the process unfolds.”

Stanley J. Sanders, the founding partner, started out working for defense firms. He brings 48 years of experience and sees cases from both perspectives and anticipates what the defense may do. Another team member, Saru Makwande, has a nursing background, invaluable in medical malpractice cases.

“Our clients need our help, and we’ll do everything in our power to help them,” Bernstein says.

“Without clients, we don’t have a firm.”
