6th Annual CMTA Reception Coming Soon To NYC

CMTA Save the Date

The Sanders Firm is proud to continue our support of the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA) and their incredible strides in medical research. We are very excited to announce the 6th Annual New York CMTA Star Cocktail Reception – a fundraiser to help the CMTA continue their crucial advancement of therapies.

On behalf of the CMTA, The Sanders Firm remind everyone to save the date and join us for a beautiful benefit at The Essex House on October 26, 2015. Beginning at 6:30 pm, the reception includes entertainment, an auction, and a discussion of the latest updates in medical research conducted by the CMTA.

Proceeds for the benefit of CMT sufferers

Last year’s fundraiser, which was held at the New York Palace on Madison Avenue, was a smashing success that helped support important research initiatives into therapies for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. CMT is actually an umbrella term for more than 70 different types of CMT disorders that affect some 2.8 million people worldwide.

It is a type of inherited peripheral neuropathy, which refers to damage to the peripheral nervous system. Some types of CMT inflict damage on the myelin sheaths that protect the nerves, while others attack the nerve fibers directly. The disease attacks both the motor fibers, which facilitate movement, and the sensory fibers, which are responsible for transmitting sensations.

People with CMT suffer from a wide range of debilitating physical challenges. They may have foot deformities, foot drop, a “slapping” gait, numbness in the feet, and balance impairment. Muscle loss in the lower legs can also occur. These symptoms typically develop before the age of 20 and later in life the symptoms may also affect the arms and hands.

Currently, there are no treatments available to halt or slow down the progression of physical disability, nor is there a cure. CMTA is working to change this and to provide hope for those who suffer from these debilitating disorders. The Sanders Firm urges New Yorkers to support this cause by joining us on October 26th at 6:30pm.

Individual tickets are $300 per person or you can become a star constellation supporter with a larger donation. Contact The Sanders Firm at SGUTERDING@THESANDERSFIRM.COM to make your reservations soon!
