The Ford Motor Company is experiencing similar strife with regard to its Fiesta compact model vehicle. According to reports, Ford Fiesta models manufactured between 2011 and 2013 are supposedly apt to problems regarding the door latch – resulting in the sudden opening of the drivers’ side door with the vehicle is in motion. The recall affects over 200,000 cars and is the result of over 60 complaints of door malfunction.
Lastly, airbag manufacturer Takata is facing possible exposure to liability due to faulty airbag installations in 11 various automakers and a staggering 14 million vehicles. In Honda vehicles alone, two deaths and over 30 serious injuries have been reported as a result of defective Takata airbags. Reportedly, the airbags either partially deflated, or spewed shrapnel at drivers and passengers in the event of collision – including one unthinkable instance where a driver was fatally impaled by shrapnel in her neck and chest, bleeding to death in front of her family.
